Dover, Del. (Nov. 4, 2014) --- The Delaware State University bowling team posted an overall record of 7-7 to finish 12th in the 2014 New Jersey Jamboree hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson University last weekend.
The Hornets were 5-6 in regular team matches and 2-1 in the Sunday championship bracket competition.
Stephanie Sheridan (jr.) was the top individual performer for the Hornets with a total pinfall of 2,085 (189.6 avg.) in 11 games to finish 32nd among more than 180 competitors.
Sheridan had four 200-plus games, including a high of 211.
Amber McLeod (fr.) was second on the team with a 2,071 total pinfall, 36th in the final standings. Her 11-game average of 188.3 was highlighted by a career-best 258 vs. Felician College, the second highest total on the Hornets this season. McLeod had five 200-plus games, including a string of four straight.
Chelsey Merklinger (fr.) posted scores of 235 and 211; while Ryanne Tyler (so.) topped the Hornets with a score of 235 in the opening match.
In Sunday bracket play, Delaware State posted wins over Kutztown (4-1) and Bethune-Cookman (4-1) before falling to St. Francis-Pa. (3-4) in the 12th place game.
