Dover, Del. (Nov. 6, 2012) --- Delaware State University defensive end Rodney Gunter (so.; Haines, Fla.) has been recognized for his play in the Hornets' 23-20 overtime loss to North Carolina Central last Saturday.
Gunter was named as a Beyond Sports Network (BSN) Football Championship Subdivision Defensive Player-of-the-Week after recording six tackles (four solo), including a career-high three sacks (-18 yards). He had a total of 3.5 tackles-for-loss in the contest.
For the season, Gunter is tops among DSU defensive linemen and sixth on the team with 36 total tackles. He is tied for third in the MEAC at 5.5 sacks this season (0.61 pg).
The Beyond Sports Network presents national awards each for the top performances in the FCS, Division 2, Division 3, and NAIA.
