HORNETS EQUESTRIAN FALL SHORT AT AUBURN

Auburn, AL ? In their first action of the spring season the Delaware State Hornets equestrian came up short against the Auburn Tigers 13-5 as the Tigers defeated the Hornets 6-3 in Hunt Seat and 7-2 in Western.

Delaware State's Elizabeth Tuttle earned MVP honors in Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat.

Despite the team setback, the over-all performance in Reining went down to the wire as Auburn tied the Hornets 2-2. Auburn MVP Julie Gibbs defeated Morgan Scuse 75-73. Other Tiger winners include Paige Monforer Christina Smith 68.5-0 (refers to a no score because of a penalty). Tying with a score of 73.5 was Auburn's Lyndsey Jordan Delaware State's Alicia Maynard. Delaware State winners include Jennifer Pierson over Jessica Jones 5-0, and Amanda Hotz over Kim Pope 71-68.5.

This was the first time in the young history of the DSU program that they have tied in Reining and according to Coach Jen Ridgley, “It was a good day and I must say we are continuing to grow and be successful as a team and we can only get better in the future,”.

The Hornets will return to action on February 16th as they travel to Fresno State.
